With a loss having no affect on the their playoff standings, are the Hornets a poor bet to cover the spread tonight against the Magic at 8:00PM ET?
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Hornets are 8-point home favorites versus the Magic after the line opened at Charlotte -10. The over/under, meanwhile, is sitting at 210 after opening at 208.5.

Via Twitter, Rick Bonnell reports that Cody Zeller (Sternum contusion) is questionable to play tonight versus the Magic while Nicolas Batum (ankle) has been ruled out. With the playoffs starting soon, there’s no reason for Charlotte to push any of its banged-up players, especially when the Hornets can’t improve their playoff standing.
The Magic are 4-1 against the spread in their last five games in Charlotte while the road team is an impressive 23-8 against the number in the last 31 meetings between these two teams. The underdog has also cashed in six of the last seven meetings as well.

The Hornets, meanwhile, have failed to cover in five of their last six home games and are winless at the betting window in all four of their last four games coming off a win.
