Spurs unable to get on track
San Antonio has been unable to show much consistency this season when it comes to winning. They are coming off a 107-102 win yesterday against Miami, but are 5-5 in their last 10. San Antonio is 18-23 on the season, 6-13 on the road, 16-24-1 against the spread and 25-16 with the over.
The Spurs are struggling on defense this year, allowing 114.6 points per game while opponents shoot 46.2 percent from the field. Offensively, San Antonio is putting up 113.6 points per game while shooting 47.1 percent from the floor. Rudy Gay is questionable to play tonight due to an illness. He averages 10.7 points and 5.8 rebounds per game. DeMar DeRozan is leading the squad with 22.6 points, 5.5 rebounds and 5.2 assists per game. LaMarcus Aldridge is adding 19.1 points and 7.4 rebounds per game.
Suns trying to make a run
Phoenix is coming off a 123-119 win at Boston on Saturday and the Suns have won four of their last five games. Phoenix comes into tonight’s game 18-24 overall, 9-14 at home, 22-19-1 against the spread and 23-19 with the over.
The Suns are giving up 114 points per game this season while opponents shoot 47.1 percent from the field. Offensively, Phoenix is putting up 113.5 points per game while shooting 46.3 percent from the floor. The Suns will be without a little depth in the frontcourt as center Aron Baynes is doubtful with a hip injury while Frank Kaminsky remains out with a knee injury. Both average over 11 points per game while combining for 10 rebounds per contest. Devin Booker is leading the team with 26.5 points, 4.1 rebounds and 6.4 assists per contest. Deandre Ayton is adding 17.6 points and 12.3 rebounds per game.
NBA Betting Trends
San Antonio
The Spurs are 6-2-1 against the spread in their last nine road games and 6-2 ATS in their last eight games as an underdog.
Phoenix
The Suns are 1-5 against the spread in their last six games as a favorite, but 5-0 ATS in their last five Monday games.
Prediction:
The Spurs won an OT game in Phoenix back in early December, but I actually like the Suns today. Phoenix was without Ayton back then and they are turning the corner a little bit. The Suns can score and they should be able to rack up points at home against this San Antonio defense. The Spurs are playing their third game in four days as well and the other two were very competitive. I just feel the Spurs are ripe for the picking tonight.
NBA Prediction: Phoenix Suns -4.5
