ACC Predictions: Louisville Cardinals vs. Notre Dame Fighting Irish 1/4/17

Louisville vs. Notre Dame Pick

Will No. 23 Notre Dame manage to stay unbeaten at home when the Irish play host to No. 9 Louisville today at 9PM ET?

According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, Louisville is the slight favorite on the road, as the Cardinals are getting odds of -1.5 points against the Irish. The over/under total for the game is listed at 141.5 points. Notre Dame has won and covered the spread in the last two meetings with the Cardinals.

Bet on Louisville vs. Notre Dame

Louisville is off to a 12-2 start following a 77-62 win over Indiana. The Cardinals are 9-3 against the spread, having covered in three of the last four games. The Cardinals put up 76.1 points per game while allowing just 60.4 points per contest. Louisville has a balanced attack, as four players average 9.6 points or more per game. Donovan Mitchell is leading the way with 12.4 points and 5.1 rebounds per contest.

Notre Dame has won its last three games to improve to 12-2 on the season, including a 78-77 OT win at Pittsburgh. The Irish have struggled against the spread, going 0-3-1 in their last four games to drop to 4-3-1 ATS on the season. Notre Dame has a pretty strong offense that is putting up 83.2 points per game while the defense is allowing just 66.2 points per contest. Bonzie Colson is averaging 16.6 points and 10.5 rebounds per game to lead Notre Dame while three others average at least 13.4 points or more.

This should be a competitive game. Louisville has a solid defensive effort that could cause problems for Notre Dame, but I have concerns over the Cardinals’ ability to score on the road with the Irish. Notre Dame has a lot of scoring options, so Louisville can’t focus their defensive efforts on just Colson. Notre Dame’s defense isn’t poor enough where it should allow Louisville to get uncontested shots either. I like the Irish at home, they are unbeaten at home and I think this matchup suits them well.
