Wednesday’s Big 12 Predictions
The 2018 Big 12 Tournament gets started on Wednesday, March 7, 2018 with a pair of first-round games. Here’s our predictions for the two contests.
625 Oklahoma even vs. 626 Oklahoma State, 7PM ET (ESPNU)
According to oddsmakers at YouWager, this game is considered even between eighth-seeded Oklahoma State and ninth-seeded Oklahoma. The Sooners were once the darlings of the basketball season, but freshman Trae Young has really had a tough second half in terms of leading the Sooners to wins. Oklahoma is just 2-7 straight up and against the spread in their last 10. These two split the season series, but the Sooners win came on Jan. 3 when things were really going well. The Cowboys have covered the spread in four straight games and won three of their last four outright. The lone loss was by one point at Texas. Oklahoma State is playing better basketball and I think the Sooners continue to struggle down the stretch of close games. BIG 12 PREDICTIONS: 626 OKLAHOMA STATE EVEN
Bet on Big 12 for Wednesday, March 7, 2018
627 Iowa State +5.5 vs. 628 Texas, 9PM ET (ESPNU)
Oddsmakers have seventh-seeded Texas as a 5.5-point favorite against 10th-seeded Iowa State tonight. Texas won and covered the spread in both meetings this season. However, Mohamed Bamba, the team’s talented freshman big, is doubtful to play tonight due to a toe injury. That didn’t keep the Longhorns from beating West Virginia at home this past weekend or from covering against Kansas on the road. Iowa State has dropped six straight and eight of its last nine while failing to cover in four of its last five. I don’t see the Cyclones being motivated for an upset tonight, as their defense is what really lacks. Once Texas applies its tough defense to ISU, I see the Cyclones giving up somewhat quickly. BIG 12 PREDICTIONS: 628 TEXAS -5.5
