CBB Predictions: Duke Blue Devils vs. Notre Dame Fighting Irish 1/30/17

Duke vs. Notre Dame Pick

Can No. 17 Duke go on the road and pick up a big win when it faces No. 14 Notre Dame tonight at 7PM ET?

According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, Notre Dame is a slight favorite, as the Fighting Irish are getting odds of -1 point against Duke. The over/under total for the game is listed at 154.5 points. Notre Dame has won three straight in this series and covered the spread in six of its last seven against Duke.

Duke picked up a needed comeback win at Wake Forest on Saturday, 85-83. The Blue Devils are now 16-5 on the season and 4-4 in the ACC. Despite the win, Duke still failed to cover as it is just 1-5 ATS in its last six. On the season, the Blue Devils are only 8-12 ATS. Duke averages 83 points per game this year while allowing just 67.8. However, the Blue Devils are giving up 76.6 points per game on the road. Luke Kennard had a big game on Saturday and he leads the team with 20.4 points and 5.4 rebounds per game. Jayson Tatum and Grayson Allen are each averaging 15 points per game.

Bet on Duke vs. Notre Dame

Notre Dame is coming off a 62-60 loss at Georgia Tech for its second straight loss and third defeat in four games. The Irish are now 17-5 overall and 6-3 in the ACC. The Irish haven failed to cover in these last two losses and they are now 9-7 against the spread this season. Notre Dame averages 79 points per game on offense and allows 67.4. Their defense steps up at home, giving up just 62.9 points per game. Bonzie Colson is leading the team with 15.5 points and 10.6 rebounds per game while VJ Beachem and Steve Vasturia are each adding 14.5 points per game.

Both teams are in an interesting position coming into tonight’s game. Duke just picked up a big win for itself to get on track while the Irish were heartbroken by Georgia Tech. Still, the Blue Devils only beat a poor Wake Forest team while the Irish lost on the road to a surging Yellow Jackets. ND has still been a good team for the most part and has picked up nice wins at home. The Irish are 5-2 ATS at home while Duke is just 3-7 ATS away from home. I think ND still has the talent to best Duke and the Blue Devils still have many issues to fix.
