Warhawks lose fourth straight
Louisiana-Monroe lost by a score of 62-59 last Saturday at home versus Arkansas State to fall to 4-8 overall and 0-2 on conference play. The Warhawks were outscored 39-30 in the second half of the defeat to blow a six-point halftime advantage. Tyree White led UL-Monroe with 14 points on 4-of-10 shooting including 1-of-4 from 3-point distance plus 5-of-6 at the free throw line. He also recorded three rebounds, two assists and two blocked shots. Michael Ertel contributed 13 points, five boards and three assists. Jalen Hodge added 10 points, six caroms and two assists.
Bulldogs down Boilermakers
Butler secured a 70-61 victory last Saturday over Purdue in the Crossroads Classic to improve to 11-1 on the season. The Bulldogs led 26-21 at halftime and held on from there. Bryce Golden paced Butler with 14 points on 5-of-9 shooting including 1-of-3 from 3-point distance plus 3-of-4 at the charity stripe. He also accounted for two rebounds and two assists. Aaron Thompson tallied 12 points, six dimes and five boards. Jordan Tucker registered 12 points and four caroms off the bench. Sean McDermott added 11 points, five rebounds and three dimes.
College Basketball Betting Trends
Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks
The Warhawks are 8-3 ATS in their last 11 games as an underdog. Louisiana-Monroe is 2-5 ATS in its last seven Saturday games.
Butler
The Bulldogs are 4-1 ATS in their last five games overall. Butler is 7-3 ATS in its last 10 games as a favorite.
Prediction:
The Bulldogs have played a tough schedule with six wins over top 100 teams including their best win of the season last weekend against Purdue. Conversely, the Warhawks have only faced one top-100 squad and that was a 62-45 defeat November 14 at a Mississippi State squad that is not nearly as good as Butler. My worry for the Bulldogs is that this is a letdown game even with a week of preparation. There are tougher opponents coming up on the schedule and I’m going to bank on their focus not being at 100 percent.
