MSU ends losing streak

Michigan State put an end to its three-game losing streak on Saturday when it earned a 79-55 win at home over Minnesota. The Spartans are 19-5 overall, 10-3 in the Big Ten, 11-1 at home, 17-7 against the spread and 13-10-1 with the under.

The Spartans have been strong on offense this season, averaging 81.9 points per game while shooting 49.5 percent as a team. Defensively, MSU is giving up just 67 points per game while holding opponents to 37.1 percent shooting. Cassius Winston has been leading the team with 18.6 points and 7.4 assists per game while Nick Ward is adding 15.5 points and 6.7 rebounds per contest.

Badgers end win streak

Wisconsin is coming off a 61-52 loss at Michigan on Saturday, which snapped a six-game winning streak and cover streak for the Badgers. Wisconsin is now 17-7 on the season, 9-4 in the Big Ten, 9-2 at home, 14-10 against the spread and 13-10 with the under.

The Badgers have been one of the best defenses in the country, allowing just 61 points per game while limiting opponents to 39.5 percent shooting. Offensively, Wisconsin is putting up 70.6 points per game while shooting 46.9 percent. Ethan Happ has been leading Wisconsin this season with 18.3 points and 10.5 rebounds per contest while D’Mitrik Trice is adding 13.2 points per game.

College Basketball Betting Trends

Michigan State

The Spartans have covered the spread in 12 of their last 13 games against a team with a winning percentage over .600. MSU is also 10-3 against the spread in its last 13 Big Ten games.

Wisconsin

The Badgers are 6-1 against the spread in their last seven conference games and 5-2 ATS in their last seven home games.

Prediction:

Michigan State snapped out of its funk last weekend thanks to a nice win over Minnesota. The issue for the Spartans during the losing streak were turnovers. MSU has had some bad stretches with turnovers this season. However, we saw a motivated Nick Ward on Saturday and MSU is going to be tough to beat when he’s playing well. I think he will struggle tonight going against Happ and this Wisconsin defense. The Badgers should be able to create a lot of problems for MSU and slow down this game to get the Spartans out of their comfort zone. I will take my chances with the Badgers at home.

College Basketball Prediction: Wisconsin +1.5
