Baylor vs. West Virginia Pick
Can No. 21 West Virginia go on the road and pick up a win over Baylor when the two meet tonight in the Big 12 at 7PM ET?
According to oddsmakers at YouWager, West Virginia is the slim favorite on the road, as the Mountaineers are getting odds of -1 point against Baylor. The over/under total for the contest is listed at 140.5 points. Tonight’s game will take place from the Ferrell Center in Waco, Texas and will air live on ESPN2.
West Virginia is coming off a 77-69 loss at Kansas this weekend despite leading in the game. The Mountaineers are 19-8 overall, 8-6 in the Big 12 and 11-12 against the spread. WVU is averaging 80.5 points per game on offense while allowing 68.4 per game. Jevon Carter is averaging 16.9 points, 5 rebounds, 6.8 assists and 3.1 steals per contest. Daxter Miles Jr. is adding 12.2 points per contest.
Baylor has a five-game win streak right now following a 59-57 victory over Texas Tech. The Bears have also covered the spread in six straight. Baylor is 17-10 overall, 7-7 in the Big 12 and 13-7 against the spread. Baylor is averaging 75.3 points per game on offense while allowing 68.4 per contest. Manu Lecomte is averaging 16.5 points per game to lead Baylor while Jo Lual-Acuil Jr. is adding 14.2 points and 9.2 rebounds per contest.
Bet on West Virginia vs. Baylor
West Virginia has won four of its last five meetings with Baylor, including a 57-54 win at home on Jan. 9. However, the Bears have covered the spread in two straight meetings and six of the last nine in this series. The WVU defense hasn’t traveled well, allowing 75.6 per game on the road. That will be a problem against a Baylor team that averages over 80 per game at home. The Bears are 6-3 against the spread at home and I think they will be able to capitalize on WVU’s current struggles. If the Mountaineers can’t get defensive stops, they can’t win. The public betting is slightly with Baylor and I think the Bears will cover as well.
