Public Betting Trends
According to oddsmakers at BetNow.eu, Purdue is the clear favorite in this game, as the Boilermakers are getting odds of -11.5 points against Nebraska. The over/under total for the contest is listed at 138.5 points. The public betting currently has 82 percent going on Purdue at home. This information is subject to change, however, so be sure to check out our College Basketball Public Betting Page for updated figures on the game.
Cornhuskers falling fast
Nebraska is coming off a 60-45 loss at home to Maryland this week for a sixth straight loss. The Cornhuskers haven’t been able to cover in any of the six losses either. Nebraska is now 13-10 on the season, 3-9 in the Big Ten, 2-5 on the road, 11-10-1 against the spread and 13-8 with the under.
The Cornhuskers are pretty strong defensively, allowing just 62.7 points per game while holding opponents to 39.6 percent shooting. Offensively, Nebraska is putting up 73.3 points per contest while shooting only 43.3 percent. The team recently lost Isaac Copeland Jr. for the season due to a knee injury. He was averaging 14 points and 5.3 rebounds per game. James Palmer Jr. is leading the team now with 19 points per contest.
Purdue on a hot streak
The Boilermakers are riding a 7-game winning streak right following a 73-63 win over Minnesota at home. Purdue has covered the spread in six of the seven wins, with the lone failed cover being last Sunday’s 10-point win over the Gophers. Purdue is now 16-6 on the season, 9-2 in the Big Ten, 11-0 at home, 13-9 against the spread and 11-11 with the over/under total.
Purdue is putting up 78.7 points per game on offense this season, led by 38.1 percent shooting from the arc. Defensively, Purdue is giving up 68.7 points per game, but does allow opponents to shoot 36.3 percent from 3-point land. Carsen Edwards is the clear leader of the team, averaging 24.5 points per game. Ryan Cline is adding 12.9 points per contest for Purdue.
College Basketball Betting Trends
Nebraska
The Cornhuskers have failed to cover in seven straight following a loss and in four straight against winning teams.
Purdue
Purdue is 6-1 against the spread in its last seven conference games and 4-1 ATS in its last five home games.
Prediction:
The loss of Copeland has clearly had an impact on Nebraska. The Huskers have been struggling on offense since and are averaging just 57.8 points over their last five games. That is going to be a problem against a Purdue team that scores nearly 80 points per game at home. Nobody on Nebraska will be able to slow down Edwards and I think he will be able to push Purdue to build on its current hot streak.
College Basketball Prediction: Purdue -11.5
