Tuesday’s NIT Predictions

The 2018 NIT Tournament begins play on Tuesday, March 13, 2018. Here’s our predictions for three games on the slate.

551 Vermont +6 vs. 552 Middle Tennessee, 8PM ET (ESPNU)

According to oddsmakers at YouWager, Middle Tennessee is favored in this game, as the Blue Raiders are getting odds of -6 points against Vermont. The third-seeded Blue Raiders have a chip on their shoulder, as they felt they were left out of the big dance. Middle Tennessee is 11-2 at home this season with a 7-4 record against the spread. Their defense at home is very strong, as it is holding opponents to just 62.3 points per game. I don’t think the Catamounts are going to be able to compete with this MTSU defense. NIT TOURNAMENT PREDICTIONS: 552 MIDDLE TENNESSEE -6

Bet on College Basketball for Tuesday, March 13, 2018

555 Florida Gulf Coast +10.5 vs. 556 Oklahoma State, 9PM ET (ESPN2)

According to oddsmakers, Oklahoma State is favored at home in this game, as the Cowboys are getting odds of -10.5 points against FGCU. Prior to a loss to Kansas, Oklahoma State had covered in five straight. This game could be an offensive showcase, as FGCU puts up 81.5 points per game while the Cowboys average nearly 80 points per contest at home. However, Oklahoma State is holding opponents to 69.9 per game at home. When FGCU can’t get its offense on track, I think it will begin to falter. I like the Cowboys to get the job done at home. NIT TOURNAMENT PREDICTIONS: 556 OKLAHOMA STATE -10.5

561 Rider +11.5 vs. 562 Oregon, 10PM ET (ESPN3)

Oddsmakers are listing Oregon as an 11.5-point favorite against Rider tonight. The Ducks are 15-3 at home, but they have to cover a big spread against a team that is 9-4 against the spread on the road. The Ducks are 1-3-1 against the spread over their last five games. Rider has an offense that averages 81.7 points per game and that should be enough to allow it to compete with Oregon tonight. The Ducks can score as well, but I think their defense will struggle and that will keep them from pulling away. NIT TOURNAMENT PREDICTIONS: 561 RIDER +11.5
