Texas vs. Oklahoma Predictions: Why Bettors Should Play the Over 2/17/18

West Virginia vs. Oklahoma College Basketball Predictions 2/5/18 West Virginia vs. Oklahoma College Basketball Predictions 2/5/18

Why Texas-OU Over Should Cash

Here’s why the over should be profitable for bettors this afternoon when No. 23 Oklahoma hosts Texas in Big 12 play at 12:00 p.m. ET on ESPN.

According to oddsmakers from online sports book YouWager, the Sooners are now 7-point home favorites to beat the Longhorns, who opened as 6.5-point road underdogs. As for the total, the number hit the board at 154.5 but was bet up to 155.5.

Not surprising, public bettors are taking the favorite and the over in this matchup. As of Saturday morning, 52% of the betting tickets wagered at online sportsbooks are on the Sooners to cover the 7-point spread, while 63% of betting tickets are on the over.

Bet Tonight’s College Hoops Action

While I usually look for opportunities to fade public bettors, this is a good spot to take the over. The combined score in four of the Longhorns’ last six games have gone over and Texas is averaging 72.4 points per game while allowing an average of 68.0 points on defense. On the other side, the total has gone over in three of the Sooners’ last five games and they have the nation’s top college player in scoring as Trae Young averages 29.1 points per contest.

Granted, the under is 5-2 in the last seven meetings between these two teams in Norman but the rest of the trends favor the over. For example, the over is 9-4 in the Sooners’ last 13 home games, is 4-1 in their last five games overall, and is 6-1 in their last seven home games when facing an opponent with a losing road record. The over is also a perfect 4-0 in the Longhorns’ last four games played on Saturday, is 5-1 in their last six games overall, and is 6-2-1 in their last nine games coming off a loss.

College Basketball Prediction: Texas/Oklahoma over 155.5
