Top-ranked Michigan State suffered a decent blow on Monday as the school announced that Denzel Valentine will miss two to three weeks.

The senior underwent minor arthroscopic surgery on his left knee, as a small chip of cartilage came loose in his left knee. Valentine had the procedure to clean up the knee. The diagnosis is that the 6-5 guard will be out two to three weeks for the 12-0 Spartans.

According to oddsmakers from oddsmakers at MyBookie.ag, Michigan State is the co-favorite to win the NCAA Tournament this season along with Kansas, as both teams have 8/1 odds to win. Other short odds are Duke (9/1) and North Carolina (10/1).

MSU is off to a great start, picking up wins over Kansas, Louisville and Florida on its way to a 12-0 record and a No. 1 ranking. However, Valentine had a lot to do with that, as he is averaging 18.5 points, 8.3 rebounds and 7.1 assists per game while logging a team-high 30.6 minutes per contest. Valentine has multiple triple-doubles this season and has emerged as a top contender for Player of the Year. The Spartans are set to begin Big Ten play next week with road games at Iowa, Minnesota and Penn State on the horizon. MSU will also host Illinois and Iowa in upcoming weeks.
