Virginia vs. Duke Pick
The big game of the day in college basketball comes in the ACC when No. 4 Duke plays host to No. 2 Virginia at 2PM ET.
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Duke is the favorite at home today, as the Blue Devils are getting odds of -5 points against Virginia. The over/under total for the contest is listed at 137 points. Today’s game takes place from Cameron Indoor Stadium in Durham, North Carolina and will air live on CBS.
Virginia is hot as anyone right now, winning 11 straight games while covering in six of their last seven. The Cavaliers are 19-1 overall, 8-0 in the ACC and 13-4 against the spread this season. Virginia is all about defense, allowing just 51.6 points per game this season. Offensively, UVA averages just 69.2 per game. Kyle Guy is leading the Cavs with 15.2 points per game while Devon Hall is adding 12.7 points and 4.2 rebounds per contest.
Duke has won five straight coming into today’s game while covering in four of their last five. The Blue Devils are 18-2 overall, 6-2 in the ACC and 12-6 against the spread. Duke is putting up 91.6 points per game this season while allowing 72.6 per game. Marvin Bagley III has been leading the team with 21.6 points and 11.5 rebounds per game while Grayson Allen is adding 15.2 points and 4.4 assists per contest.
Duke has won eight of the last 10 meetings in this series but the Cavaliers have managed to go 7-3 against the spread in those 10 games. Duke certainly has the better offense, but the UVA defense is legit. The Cavs have held their last three opponents under 50 points and that includes two road games. Virginia held UNC to 49 points a few weeks ago and I see them keeping Duke to a low number as well. The Blue Devils may win this game, but I see it coming down to the wire. The public betting is slightly with Virginia and I will take the points as well.
