West Coast Conference Picks

The 2018 West Coast Conference Tournament is set to hold the semifinals on Monday, March 5, 2018. Here’s our predictions for the pair of games in Las Vegas.

731 San Francisco +12.5 vs. 732 Gonzaga, 9PM ET (ESPN)

According to oddsmakers at YouWager, Gonzaga is favored at home in this game, as the Bulldogs are getting odds of -12.5 points against San Francisco. Gonzaga won both meetings in this series, but San Francisco covered the spread in both meetings. These two have similar defensive capabilities, but the big difference is offense. Gonzaga averages 84.7 points per game while San Fran puts up just 68.6 per contest. The Bulldogs are accustomed to neutral-site games and winning this tournament. San Francisco doesn’t have that same experience. While they played the Bulldogs tough this season, I don’t see San Francisco being able to hang tough tonight. WCC PREDICTIONS: 732 GONZAGA -12.5

Bet on College Basketball for Monday, March 5, 2018

733 BYU +5.5 vs. 734 St. Mary’s, 11:30PM ET (ESPN2)

Oddsmakers have St. Mary’s as the slight favorite in this game, as the Gaels are getting odds of -5.5 points against the Cougars. Saint Mary’s has won five straight in this series, covering in all five. That includes two meetings this season. St. Mary’s won 74-64 at BYU in OT on Dec. 30 and 75-62 at home on Jan. 25. The Gaels are averaging 77.1 per game on offense and their defense allows just 63.8 per game. Neither team has been great at covering right now, but Saint Mary’s is the better team. With the spread being so small, I think the Gaels are the right play. They don’t have to blow out BYU, just play steady enough. WCC PREDICTIONS: 734 SAINT MARY’S -5.5
