2010 Sun Bowl Free Pick:
This is a matchup that favors Miami but the question is: Are they motivated? The Canes’ rank second in the nation in pass defense, which is good considering they’ll be facing a pass-happy Brian Kelly offense. The Miami defense has also forced a total of 28 turnovers and is stifling in the red zone. Assuming they’re up for the challenge and want to play for offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland (who replaces Shannon on an interim basis), then the Canes should win this one. They have a couple of NFL prospects on offense in running back Damien Berry and wide receivers Leonard Hankerson and Travis Benjamin. So if Jacory Harris can capture some of the magic he lost after suffering a midseason injury against Virginia, then the Canes could roll. Our pick is Miami –2.5.
