According to oddsmakers from online sports book Sportsbook.com, Auburn is a 1.5-point favorite over Oregon on Monday night. The over/under total for this game is currently 72.5 points.
Las Vegas oddsmakers set the opening line for the BCS title game at Auburn –1, but the line quickly moved back to 2.5 and the 3 before falling again. Expecting a shootout, Vegas set the total at 74.5 but that has come down a bit too.
According to latest college football public betting reports, 60% of the 91,000-plus wagers for the BCS National Championship game have been placed on Auburn –1.5. In general, the public usually sides with the team that rosters the Heisman Trophy winner in Cam Newton and it helps that the Tigers play in the SEC (the superior conference in college football, at least according to most pundits).
Oregon comes into Monday’s game with a perfect 12-0 record and a Pac-10 title. They covered in seven of their 12 overall games with one push, while the over hit in eight of their 12 games overall. They averaged 49.3 points per game this season to just 18.4 against.
Auburn is also perfect on the year at 13-0 and beat South Carolina in the SEC Championship Game. The Tigers covered in nine of their 13 games this season while the over hit in eight of their 13 contests. They averaged 42.7 points per game and 24.5 against.
Kickoff is scheduled tonight for 8:30PM ET live from University of Phoenix Stadium. ESPN will have the TV broadcast.
