Auburn opened the season with a narrow 42-38 win over Utah State at home. The Tigers had to score 14 points in the final 2:07 of play to get the win at home. Auburn had 364 yards of offense in the win, but just 78 rushing yards. Quarterback Barrett Trotter had 261 passing yards and three touchdowns to lead Auburn. On defense, the Tigers gave up 448 yards to Utah State, including 227 rushing yards.
In terms of Injuries, Mississippi State receiver Ricco Sanders is questionable for the game with a knee injury while Auburn linebacker Eltoro Freeman is questionable due to eligibility issues.
