Notre Dame vs. Virginia Odds
No. 9 Notre Dame hits the road for the first time this season when it takes on Virginia at 3:30PM ET on ABC.
According to oddsmakers at GTBets, Notre Dame is favored on the road, as the Fighting Irish are getting odds of -11.5 points against Virginia. The over/under total for the game has been set at 47.5 points. These two haven’t met since 1989 when Notre Dame got a 36-13 home victory. Virginia comes into this game 4-0-1 against the spread in its last 5 games in September.
Notre Dame started the year with a 38-3 thrashing of Texas at home. The Irish easily covered the 8.5-point spread while going under the 48-point total. Notre Dame held Texas to just 163 total yards in the game while racking up 527 of its own. Malik Zaire had a very impressive outing, going 19 of 22 passing for 313 yards with three touchdowns. Will Fuller caught seven passes for 142 yards and two touchdowns in the win as well. One negative for the Irish was losing running back Tarean Folston for the year with a torn ACL. He had just 19 yards on three carries before getting hurt.
Virginia opened the season at UCLA last week and suffered a 34-16 loss to the Bruins. The Cavaliers pushed the 18-point spread and went under the 53-point total. Virginia was torn up on the defensive side of things, allowing 503 yards to the Bruins, while the offense produced 336 total yards. Matt Johns threw for 238 yards and a touchdown on 21 of 35 passing, but the Cavaliers couldn’t get a steady ground game established, amassing just 98 yards on 34 attempts for a 2.9 yards-per-carry average.
