According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Fighting Irish are 14-point home favorites versus the Midshipmen while the total currently sits at 56.5 points. Navy is 4-0 overall and 4-0 against the spread, while Notre Dame is 4-1 straight up and 4-1 at the betting window.
The Midshipmen are an impressive 9-1 against the spread in their last 10 road games versus the Irish and the road team is 16-4 ATS in the last 20 meetings between these two teams. But this is the year to buck the trends.
Under defensive coordinator Brian VanGorder, Notre Dame did a great job shutting down the Triple Option when it played Georgia Tech a few weeks ago. The Irish played a sloppy game against Clemson last weekend but actually out gained the Tigers 437-296. If not for four turnovers and a questionable decision by Brian Kelly to go for two points down 21-9 early in the fourth quarter, Notre Dame beats Clemson.
