Arkansas 2011 Season Odds
(The Spread) – Despite losing a prolific quarterback, many are pointing to the Arkansas Razorbacks as a potential threat to win the 2012 BCS National Championship. Can the Hogs live up to the hype?
Coach Bobby Petrino is in his fourth season with Arkansas after going 10-3 in 2010. The Razorbacks have improved their win total in each of the three seasons with Petrino. This season, 15 starters are back for Arkansas, but one key piece is missing. That piece is quarterback Ryan Mallett, who threw for nearly 4,000 yards in 2010. Still, junior Tyler Wilson will take over, and he saw limited action in 2010, throwing for 453 yards and four scores in 2010.
According to oddsmakers the Razorbacks have 35/1 odds to win the 2012 BCS National Championship and 8/1 odds to win the SEC. Arkansas also has 5/1 odds to win the SEC West and over/under win total odds of 8.5.

Mallett led an Arkansas offense that posted 483 yards per game, but part of that production was from running back Knile Davis, who rushed for 1,322 yards and 13 scores last season. Davis comes into 2011 with 15/1 odds to win the Heisman Trophy while Wilson has 70/1 odds. On defense, Arkansas brings back seven starters, led by All-SEC linebacker, Jerry Franklin. Franklin has 100 tackles with 6.5 sacks in 2010.
Arkansas has won at least 9 games in four of the last 10 seasons. For the 2011 schedule, Arkansas has a light non-conference slate outside of a game against Texas A&M. In conference play, the Razorbacks will head to LSU and Alabama while hosting the likes of South Carolina and Auburn.
Along with its 10-3 record in 2010, Arkansas was also 9-4 against the spread. It was the third time in four seasons that the Razorbacks have had a winning record against the spread. Arkansas was 5-1 against the spread at home and 4-1 in games on grass. The Razorbacks hit the over in 8 of 13 lined games last season, including 4 of 6 home games.
