Auburn vs. Ole Miss Picks: Should bettors follow ‘over’ trend? 10/29/16

Auburn vs. Ole Miss Pick

The trends have backed the over in previous Auburn and Ole Miss games but will the game this Saturday night be high-scoring?

According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Tigers are now 4-point road favorites versus the Rebels after opening as a 2.5-point favorite when the odds were released earlier this week. As for the total, the number hit the board at 63 and that’s where it currently sits at the majority of online and Vegas sports books.

Bet College Football Week 9 Games

Since losing 29-16 to Texas A&M in the middle of September, Auburn has rattled off four-straight victories to get to 5-2 on the season. More importantly for bettors, the Tigers covered as a 3.5-point dog against LSU, as a 32.5-point favorite versus UL-Monroe, as a 4-point favorite at Mississippi State, and as a 10.5-point favorite last week in a 56-3 thrashing of Arkansas. The Tigers have been just as good at the betting window as they have been on the field.

The Rebels have lost back-to-back games after beating Georgia and Memphis, respectively, in their final two games in September. They fell 34-30 to Arkansas as a 10-point road favorite two weeks ago and were handled by Leonard Fournette and Co. last week 38-21 in Baton Rouge as an 8.5-point road dog. Ole Miss is now 3-3 on the year and 3-3 against the spread.

OUR PICK: The over is 8-1 in the last nine meetings between these two teams in Oxford and 5-2 in the last seven meetings overall, but the under is the better play. The under has cashed in seven of the Rebels’ last 10 home games, is 20-6-1 in their last 27 conference games, and is 9-1-1 in their last 11 games coming off a loss. On the other side, the under is 7-1 in the Tigers’ last eight conference games, is 3-1-1 in their last five road games and has cashed in nine of their last 13 games overall. Auburn is playing good defense and should contain Chad Kelly and Co. on Saturday night.
