Cal vs. UCLA Prediction
After firing Jim Mora earlier in the week, will the UCLA Bruins respond with a win and a cover tonight when they host the Cal Golden Bears at 10:30 p.m. ET?
ODDSMAKERS LIKE: UCLA. According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Bruins are 7-point home favorites versus the Golden Bears, who also opened as a 7-point road underdog. As for the total, the number hit the board at 64 and that too has not moved off the original number.

THE PUBLIC LIKES: Cal. As of Friday morning, the Golden Bears were receiving 54% of the tickets to cover the spread as a road underdog.
HISTORICAL TRENDS LIKE: UCLA and the under. The home team is 13-3-1 against the spread in the last 17 meetings between these two teams while the Golden Bears are just 1-6-1 against the spread in their last eight road games versus the Bruins. The under, meanwhile, is 4-0 in the last four meetings between these two teams and is 4-1 in the last five meetings in Los Angeles.
WHO WE LIKE: Cal. I just don’t trust the Bruins, although I fully admit I like them more that Mora isn’t on their sidelines. Dating back to his days in Atlanta as the Falcons head coach, Mora had a habit of not getting his team prepared to play and relying almost solely on talent. It cost him his job when Michael Vick didn’t develop and history repeated itself recently when he couldn’t win with a quarterback in Josh Rosen who could be the No. 1 overall pick next April.
Anyway, the Bruins are 4-9 against the spread in their last 13 games overall, are 3-7 against the number in their last 10 conference games, and are 2-11 at the betting window in their last 13 games following an ATS win.
Meanwhile, the Golden Bears are 4-1 against the spread in their last five conference games, are 4-1 against the number in their last five games overall, and have covered in five of their last six games when facing an opponent with a losing record.
