College Football Predictions: Air Force vs. Michigan 9/13/17

Air Force vs. Michigan Prediction

Will No. 7 Michigan be able to run past Air Force when the two teams meet up this Saturday at Noon ET? Here’s a breakdown of the contest.

According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Michigan is the heavy favorite at home, as the Wolverines are getting odds of -24 points against Air Force. The over/under total for the contest is listed at 47.5 points. These two last met in 2012 with Michigan getting a 31-25 win at home as a 21.5-point favorite. Saturday’s game takes place from Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The contest will air live on the Big Ten Network.

Michigan is off to a 2-0 start thanks to a 33-17 win over Florida and a 36-14 win over Cincinnati. The Wolverines are 1-1 against the spread, failing to cover in the win over the Bearcats. Michigan is allowing just 15.5 points and 196 yards per game this season on defense, including allowing just 39.5 yards per game on the ground. The offense is putting up 423.5 yards per game, but struggling somewhat. Wilton Speight has 402 passing yards with three touchdowns and two interceptions while completing just 51.9 percent of his passes. Ty Isaac has run for 247 yards to lead the offense.

Air Force has started the season 1-0 two weeks ago with a 62-0 win over the Virginia Military Institute, covering a 34.5-point spread. The Falcons dominated the game, posting 647 total yards while allowing just 95 to VMI. Air Force had 16 different players rush the ball during the win. Timothy McVey led the attack with 98 yards on 10 carries. Arion Worthman threw for 172 yards and two touchdowns on 8 of 12 passing. He also rushed for 33 yards and a score.

Bet on Air Force vs. Michigan

I have confidence that the Michigan defense is really good, but facing an option offense can always be a challenge. The Falcons also have a defense that should give Michigan some problems. Speight hasn’t looked great running this offense and the Wolverines’ ground game hasn’t been overpowering enough to dominate a game. Air Force hasn’t suffered a 24-point loss since 2013. I think the Falcons make a game out of this and cover on the road.
