Utah has won six straight meetings with BYU, covering the spread in four of those six wins. These two meet on Saturday from LaVell Edwards Stadium in Provo, Utah. The game will air live on ESPN2.

Utah got its season started with a 37-16 win at home over North Dakota. The Utes narrowly covered the 20.5-point spread in the victory. The Utes put up 499 yards of offense in the win while giving up 242 yards to North Dakota, including just 55 yards on the ground. Tyler Huntley threw for 227 yards and a touchdown in the win and also rushed for 70 yards and two touchdowns. Zack Moss added 128 rushing yards with a touchdown. Darren Carrington II was the main receiving target in the win, as he caught 10 passes for 127 yards and a touchdown.
BYU is off to a 1-1 start to the season. The Cougars defeated Portland State 20-6 while losing to LSU, 27-0 last week. BYU is 0-2 against the spread in 2017. The BYU defense hasn’t been too bad, as it is allowing just 349.5 yards per game thus far. However, the offense is a mess. The Cougars are averaging just 231 yards per game right now and were held to only 97 total yards against LSU, including -5 rushing yards. Tanner Mangum has thrown for 296 yards and a touchdown to lead the team this year while Squally Canada has 106 rushing yards with a score.
While the LSU defense is usually one of the better units in the country, BYU still has some serious problems on offense that will likely continue against Utah this weekend. The Utes look ready for the challenge up front and they have enough offensive weapons that should pose a problem for the BYU defense. The road team is 5-2 against the spread in the last seven of this series and Utah is 8-2 ATS in its last 10 trips to BYU. Look for another cover this weekend.
