College Football Predictions: Western Michigan vs. Kent State 11/8/16

W. Michigan vs. Kent St. Prediction

No. 14 Western Michigan look to improve to 10-0 on the season tonight when it hits the road to face Kent State at 7:30PM ET on ESPN2.

According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, Western Michigan is favored on the road, as the Broncos are getting odds of -21 points against the Golden Flashes. The over/under total is listed at 56 points. Kent State has won and covered the spread in three of the last four meetings with Western Michigan and the two have hit the under in three of their last four meetings.

Bet on Western Michigan vs. Kent State

Western Michigan is now 9-0 on the season following a 52-20 win at Ball State last week. The Broncos are 7-2 against the spread on the season, including a perfect 5-0 ATS on the road this season. Western Michigan has been pretty dominant on both sides of the ball. The Broncos are giving up just 19.3 points and 369 yards per game. On offense, WMU is putting up 452. Points and 506.7 yards per contest. Zach Terrell has thrown for 2,362 yards and 23 touchdowns with just one interception. Corey Davis has added 61 receptions for 1,011 yards and 14 scores. Jarvion Franklin is also a force in the backfield. He has run for 1,018 yards and nine scores.

Kent State is coming off a 27-24 win at Central Michigan a few weeks ago. The Flashes are now 3-6 on the season and 5-4 against the spread. Kent State is 2-2 ATS at home this season and 3-2 ATS in MAC play. The Flashes don’t have much of an offense, averaging just 22 points and 307.8 yards per game. The defense has been solid, though, allowing only 26 points and 350.7 yards per game. The defense will be without the MAC’s leading tackler, Nate Holley, who was suspended indefinitely for an alleged felony kidnapping. On offense, Nick Holley has thrown for 668 yards and three touchdowns while also being the leading rusher with 775 yards and nine touchdowns. Justin Rankin has run for 381 yards while catching 24 passes for 301 yards.

Western Michigan should be able to keep the Kent State offense in check. The Broncos are a sound defense that will matchup well with the Golden Flashes. Western Michigan’s offense could be challenged by the Flashes, but Kent State being without their top player certainly won’t help. Western has scored at least 41 points in six straight games, so I don’t expect that to change much tonight. Look for the Broncos to cover with some ease.
