Ohio vs. Tennessee Prediction
Can No. 15 Tennessee put up enough points against Ohio to help hit the over when these two meet today at Noon ET on the SEC Network?
According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, Tennessee is the clear favorite in this game. The Volunteers are being given odds of -27 points against Ohio. The over/under total for the contest has been set at 58 points. These two last met in 2009, when Tennessee got a 34-23 win at home. The two hit the over of 44 points in the game.
After a rough showing against Appalachian State in the opener, Tennessee bounced back last week with a 45-24 win against Virginia Tech. The Vols have hit the over in three of their last four games, including last week’s game. Despite putting up 45 points, the Vols had just 330 yards in the game. However, the defense forced five turnovers. Joshua Dobbs had three touchdowns passes and rushed for 106 yards with five total touchdowns. Dobbs will have to step up his game to lead the Vols to a cover this week, as the defense is likely to pose problems for Ohio.
Ohio is coming off a 37-21 win at Kansas last week, but hit the under in the victory. The Bobcats have hit the over in six of their last nine games. The Bobcats haven’t had much trouble moving the ball this season, averaging 563 yards of offense over the two games. The run game has been their biggest asset, as Ohio has 566 yards on the ground over two games, including 183 yards from QB Greg Windham. Windham has also thrown for 560 yards and five touchdowns.

Tennessee has been using its defense to win games thus far and the offense just isn’t quite clicking yet. While Ohio isn’t known for being a tremendous defense, the Vols probably aren’t going to put up 40 points on them. With that said, you can’t really expect Ohio to contribute a lot of points against this defense either. The under seems like the right play in this game as both teams are likely to try and control the clock with the run game.
