College Football Week 7 Pick: Will Pittsburgh and Virginia hit the over?

Pittsburgh vs. Virginia Pick?

Can Pittsburgh continue its offensive surge when it takes on Virginia this Saturday at 12:30PM ET in ACC action?

According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, Pittsburgh is favored on the road in this game, as the Panthers are getting odds of -3 points against Virginia. The over/under total for the contest has been set at 61 points. These two have split their last six meetings while going 3-2-1 with the under in those six meetings.

Bet on Pittsburgh vs. Virginia

Pittsburgh is coming off a 37-34 win over Georgia Tech. The Panthers are now 4-2 on the season and 1-1 in the ACC. The Panthers have hit the over in five of their six games this season thanks to a powerful offense and a surprisingly struggling defense. Pitt coach Pat Narduzzi is a defensive mind, but his team is giving up 31.5 points and 400.7 yards per game. Offensively, the Panthers are now putting up 37.3 points and 430 yards per contest. Leading the offense is its ground game, which is averaging 244.2 yards per game. James Conner has run for 441 yards and five touchdowns to lead the pack while Quadree Henderson has run for 343 yards. QB Nathan Peterman hasn’t been too bad either, as he has thrown for 1,115 yards and nine touchdowns.

Virginia is coming off a 34-20 win at Duke two weeks ago to move to 2-3 on the season and 1-0 in the ACC. The Cavaliers are 3-1-1 with the under this season, which is surprising given the Cavs are giving up 29.8 points and 471.6 yards per game this year. They have really struggled to stop the pass, allowing 309.6 yards per game through the air. On offense, UVA is averaging 27.8 points and 411.2 yards per game. Kurt Benkert has thrown for 1,455 yards and 13 touchdowns to lead the unit while Albert Reid has run for 318 yards and four scores.

UVA and Pitt are usually known for being somewhat of a physical defensive team but both are really struggling to make stops this season. Both offenses are also moving the ball somewhat consistently. Pitt has been tested more frequently than UVA this season, so I don’t suspect the Panthers will struggle to score. UVA may have a tougher time, but the Panthers haven’t show the consistency on defense to think they can shut down the Cavaliers.
