The Horned Frogs have won two national titles according to their program history, but the last came in 1938. In terms of conference titles, the Horned Frogs own 17, including the last two Mountain West titles. This season, TCU brings back just 10 starters from 2010. The offense alone has just three starters back, but does bring back its top three rushers from an attack that averaged 247 yards per game. On defense, TCU allowed just 12 points and 228 yards per game, but this season, Boise State is in the Mountain West mix. Leading the TCU defense will be linebacker, Tanner Brock, who had 106 tackles and two sacks in 2010, which earned him Third Team All-America honors.
The Horned Frogs have won double digit games the last three seasons. Since Patterson has been coach, he has won at least 10 games in 7 of his 10 seasons. The schedule for TCU is pretty light, as the toughest non-conference games will be at Baylor and at home with SMU. Conference play features road trips to Air Force, San Diego State, and Boise State, while BYU will head to Arlington for a “neutral-site” game.
In 2010, TCU was 7-6 against the spread. It was the sixth-straight season that the Horned Frogs have been .500 against the spread or better. TCU hit the under in 7 of 13 lined games in 2010 as well, hitting the under in 4 of 7 home games as well.
