High-scoring game expected between Mississippi State & Ole Miss? 11/26/16

Mississippi State vs. Ole Miss Pick

Will Mississippi State and Ole Miss shoot the lights out of the scoreboard this Saturday afternoon at 3:30PM ET?

According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Rebels are 8-point home favorites versus the Bulldogs while the over/under currently sits at 69.5 points. While the side hasn’t moved off that 8 number, the total has jumped from 68.5 up to 69.5.

Since Mississippi State upset Texas A&M 35-28 at home as a 10-point underdog, the Bulldogs have lost back-to-back games against Alabama and Arkansas in which they failed to cover as a 28.5-point underdog and a 1.5-point dog, respectively. The Bulldogs are now just 4-7 on the year and they’ve failed to cover in four of their last five games overall.

Ole Miss beat Texas A&M 29-28 as a 7-point underdog two weeks ago to give the Rebels back-to-back wins, but they were stomped 38-17 by Vanderbilt last Saturday night as a 9.5-point favorite. The loss dropped Ole Miss’ record to 5-6 and the Rebels have failed to cover in seven of their 11 games this season. They’re just 3-3 at the betting window at home this year.

OUR PREDICTION: The under has been a great bet in this series, cashing in five of the last six meetings between these two rivals and going 6-1 in the last seven meetings in Oxford. That said, the over is 4-1 in the last five home games between these two teams and is 3-1-1 in their last five games overall. On the other side, the over is a perfect 4-0 in the Bulldogs’ last four conference games and is 9-2 in their last 11 games following a loss. Neither of these teams have played much defense of late, so look for a shootout Saturday afternoon at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.
