Will Dobbs lead UT to a win?
The Outback Bowl features some impressive backs but it could be Tennessee QB Josh Dobbs that will be the key against Northwestern.
According to oddsmakers at MyBookie.ag, Tennessee is favored in the game, as the Volunteers are getting odds of -8 points against Northwestern. The over/under total for the game has been set at 48 points. These two meet today at Noon ET on ESPN2. The game will be held from Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, FL.
Dobbs is a 6-3, 207-pound junior QB for the Volunteers (8-4, 7-5 ATS) that is a dual threat. He has thrown for 2,125 yards and 15 touchdowns while rushing for 623 yards and 9 scores. Dobbs and the Vols will be in for a big challenge today against Northwestern (10-2, 8-4 ATS), as the Wildcats rank seventh nationally in points allowed (16.4 pg) and 11th nationally in total defense (310.5 ypg).
Oddsmakers don’t expect Dobbs to have a big game passing, as his over/under for passing yards today has been set at just 179.5. Dobbs has thrown for at least 180 yards in five games this season. The Vols went 4-1 in those games, so if they are to win, they may need him to throw the ball. In Northwestern’s loss to Michigan, Wolverine QB Jake Rudock threw for exactly 179 yards. In a 40-10 loss to Iowa, C.J. Beathard threw for 176 yards.
