Dolphins vs. Redskins Odds
The Miami Dolphins hope the new additions to their team will get them a hot start. Are they favored when they face the Washington Redskins on Sunday at 1PM ET on CBS?
According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, the Dolphins are favored on the road, as they are getting odds of -3.5 points against the Redskins on Sunday. The over/under total for the game has been set at 43 points. The home team has won seven straight between these two and Washington is 4-2-1 against the spread in those seven games.
The Dolphins are coming off an 8-8 season in 2014, missing out on the playoffs. The Dolphins were 7-9 against the spread while going a split 8-8 on the over/under total last season. Joe Philbin is coming into his fourth season as coach of the Dolphins. He has yet to have a winning season, going 23-25 in the three years. Miami made the big splash in the offseason by signing Ndamukong Suh. Suh has 36 sacks in five years and immediately improves the Miami defense. Miami is hoping an improved defense should pair along nicely with an anticipated season of improvement from Ryan Tannehill. Tannehill threw for 4,045 yards and 27 touchdowns in his third season in the NFL.
The Redskins had a rough 2014, going 4-12, finishing last in the NFC East. Washington just 5-11 against the spread last season while also going 8-8 with the total. Jay Gruden enters his second season as coach, but there is plenty of questions about his stability there as the owners seem to want Robert Griffin III to continue to be the quarterback, but Gruden is going with Kirk Cousins instead. Cousins threw for 1,710 yards and 10 touchdowns last season in limited time. One area Gruden will have to improve is the defense, which was 20th in total yards allowed last season and 30th in points allowed.
