The Carolina Panthers look for a 2-0 start to the season on Sunday when they host the Houston Texans at 1PM ET on CBS.

According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, the Panthers are favored at home, as they are getting odds of -3.5 points against the Texans. The over/under total for the game has been set at 40.5 points. Houston has won and covered the spread in two of three all-time meetings with the Panthers. The two have hit the under in two of the three meetings as well.

The Panthers opened the season with a 20-9 win at Jacksonville, covering a 3-poitn spread in the process while going under the 41-point total. The game was an offensive struggle, as Carolina was held to 263 total yards while the Jaguars had just 265 yards of offense. The Carolina defense forced three turnovers and had five sacks in the win. Thomas Davis had seven tackles, one sack and one interception to lead the team. Cam Newton finished with 175 passing yards and one touchdown while rushing for 35 yards.

The Texans started the season with a 27-20 loss at home to the Chiefs. The Texans were given a point on the spread, but failed to cover, and they hit the over of 41 points. Houston had just under 400 yards of offense in the loss, but had two turnovers. The Texans allowed the Chiefs to rack up 330 yards of offense. Brian Hoyer was pulled during the game but had 236 yards with a touchdown. Ryan Mallett came in and then threw for 98 yards and a touchdown. No word has come on who will start this week. DeAndre Hopkins led Houston in the loss with 9 catches for 98 yards and two touchdowns. J.J. Watt had nine tackles with two sacks.
