2016 NFL Draft Odds & Predictions: When will Derrick Henry be drafted?

Derrick Henry NFL Draft Prediction

When will Alabama running back Derrick Henry come off the board? Here’s our prediction ahead of this weekend’s 2016 NFL Draft.

According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, Henry’s draft position has an over/under of 36.5. That means that if bettors believe he’ll be taken before pick No. 36, they would choose the “under 36.5” and they will receive odds of +110. Conversely, if bettors believe Henry will still be on the board by pick No. 37, then they would take the “over 36.5” but they would receive odds of -150.

Based on the odds, Bovada.lv believes there’s a greater chance Henry won’t be taken within the first 36 picks (hence the -150 odds on the over compared to the +110 odds on the under).

Henry declared for this year’s draft back in January after rushing for 2,219 yards and 28 touchdowns en route to the Heisman Trophy and a national championship ring at ‘Bama. He received a second-round draft grade from the advisory committee and there have been debates about whether or not he’s a first-rounder or a late second.

OUR PREDICTION: There’s little value in laying the -150 odds on the over, especially when there are at least some reports that Henry could be selected in the bottom of the first round. Between the Panthers at No. 30, the Broncos at No. 31, and the Cowboys at pick No. 34, there’s a good chance that Henry is taken before pick No. 37 and thus, cash the under for bettors. If Ezekiel Elliott is taken in the top 10, a running back-needy team like the Giants or Dolphins could also trade back into the first-round to nab Henry before he falls to the Cowboys, too.
