Alshon Jeffery SBLII Prop Predictions

How many receptions and receiving yards will Eagles receiver Alshon Jeffery rack up on Super Bowl Sunday when Philly takes on the Patriots in Super Bowl LII?

According to oddsmakers from online sports book YouWager, the Patriots are currently 4.5-point favorites to knock off the Eagles in Super Bowl LII. New England opened as a 6-point favorite and is down to -4 at some online sportsbooks. The total, meanwhile, now sits at 48 points after hitting the board at 47.5.

As of Wednesday morning, 56% of betting tickets wagered at online sportsbooks are on the Eagles to cover the point spread. Bettors also see the game being relatively high-scoring, as 62% of betting tickets is on the over.

Bet Patriots vs. Eagles Super Bowl LII

Alshon Jeffery Total Receptions: Over 4

I could see Jeffery finishing with exactly four catches on Super Bowl Sunday so I’m a little surprised oddsmakers didn’t set the mark at either 3.5 or 4.5. Nevertheless, he caught four passes on five targets against the Falcons in the Divisional Round and made five receptions on five targets versus the Vikings in the NFC Championship Game. He only had one catch against Dallas in Week 17 but that was when Philly pulled many of its starters early and while he did post a zero-catch performance against Oakland in Week 16, that was the night Nick Foles was dreadful and the Eagles offense stalled. He has a tough matchup versus New England’s stout corners but Jeffery should haul in four passes for at least a push.

Alshon Jeffery Total Receiving Yards: Under 57.5

Even though he topped 60 yards receiving against Atlanta and posted an 85-yard day against Minnesota, I think Jeffery will fall just short of this number come Sunday. As previously mentioned, Stephon Gillmore and Malcolm Butler are tough draws for Philadelphia’s receivers so while I like Jeffery to catch about four passes, I think he falls between 50-55 yards receiving.

Alshon Jeffery Longest Reception: Over 20.5

This is worth a shot only because he eclisped that number twice in back-to-back postseason games. He had a 21-yard catch against Atlanta (which also has stout corners) and a 53-yard catch against Minnesota (which has even better corners) so the over is worth rolling the dice for here.
