Brandin Cooks Prop Predictions
Will Brandin Cooks have a big enough game for bettors to cash in on some of his prop bets this Sunday when the Patriots take on the Eagles in Super Bowl LII?
According to oddsmakers from online sports book YouWager, the Patriots are currently 4.5-point favorites to knock off the Eagles in Super Bowl LII. New England opened as a 6-point favorite and is down to -4 at some online sportsbooks. The total, meanwhile, now sits at 48 points after hitting the board at 47.5.
As of Wednesday morning, 56% of betting tickets wagered at online sportsbooks are on the Eagles to cover the point spread. Bettors also see the game being relatively high-scoring, as 62% of betting tickets is on the over.
Bet Patriots vs. Eagles Super Bowl LII
Brandin Cooks Total Receptions: Under 4.5
Including the playoffs, Cooks has averaged eight targets and four receptions over his last five games. Some bettors will look at his stats from the AFC Championship Game when he caught six passes on eight targets and take the over. But keep in mind Rob Gronkowski was knocked out of that game with a concussion towards the end of the first half. With Gronkowski in the lineup, Cooks is averaging roughly four receptions per game. With the New England running backs figuring into the passing game plan on Sunday, I like the under for Cooks’ receptions.
Brandin Cooks Total Receiving Yards: Under 68.5
Over his last five games, Cooks has averaged 58 receiving yards per contest. That’s including his 100-yard effort against the Jaguars in the AFC title game. Throw that 100-yard game out, and he averaged under 50 receiving yards per game in those other four contests. Granted, Philly’s weakness is its cornerbacks and perhaps Cooks gets loose for a big play at some point. But you can’t predict big plays. If it comes down to regular usage, I like Cooks to fall under his receiving yardage, too.
Brandin Cooks Longest Reception: Over 28.5
This is where there’s value in the over. In his last five games, Cooks has caught at least one pass for over 30 yards three separate times. He caught a 31-yard pass against the Jaguars in the AFC Championship Game, a 37-yard pass against the Jets in Week 17, and a 43-yard pass in that 27-24 thriller in Pittsburgh on December 17. He’s the Pats’ deep threat and if he and Tom Brady connect, it’s likely to go over 30 yards.
