Big day on the ground for DEN?

The Denver Broncos have seen a resurgence in their run game as of late. Will that continue today when they take on the San Diego Chargers?

According to oddsmakers at RealBets, the Broncos are the favorite on the road, as they are getting odds of -4.5 points against the Chargers. The over/under total for the game has been set at 44 points. These two meet today at 4:05PM ET on CBS.

The Broncos (9-2, 6-5 ATS) currently rank 17th in the NFL in rushing, but they were even worse a few weeks ago prior to Peyton Manning’s injury. Since moving to Brock Osweiler under center, Denver has had more of an emphasis on the run game. Last week, in a win over the Patriots, the Broncos had 179 yards and three touchdowns on the ground, led by C.J. Anderson, who has 113 yards and two scores on 15 carries. Two weeks ago, the Broncos ran for 170 yards as a team against the Bears, with Ronnie Hillman tallying 102 yards while Anderson had 59.

Today Denver takes on a rushing defense in San Diego (3-8, 4-7 ATS) that ranks among the worst in the league. From a fantasy football perspective, the Chargers allow more points to RBs than any other team in the NFL. San Diego has given up 1,219 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns to backs in 2015 while also giving up 59 receptions for 628 yards and three scores to backs. For today’s game, Anderson has been given an over/under of 76.5 rushing + receiving yards while Hillman has an over/under of 57.5 rushing yards. This season has been disappointing for both men, but they have shown signs of life under Osweiler. Anderson had four catches for 40 yards last week to go with his 113 yards. Hillman has run for over 58 yards in two straight and four of his last six games.
