According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the game tonight between the Panthers and Titans is a pick’em. Tennessee did open as a 1-point home favorite but the line has been bet down, while the over/under has gone from 41.5 down to 41 at most sports books.

The Panthers lost their exhibition opener in Baltimore 22-19 to the Ravens. Starter Cam Newton completed 5-of-6 passes for 36 yards before turning the game over to Derek Anderson, who was 7-of-14 for 93 yards and a touchdown. Joe Webb was only 9-of-16 for 89 yards passing but did rush six times for 22 yards to lead Carolina in rushing.
As for the Titans, they won their preseason opener 27-10 over the Chargers in Nashville last Saturday. Marcus Mariota was a perfect 5-for-5 passing for 45 yards while newcomer Demarco Murray stole headlines with his six-carry, 93-yard, one-touchdown performance. Rookie Derrick Henry also rushed 10 times for 74 yards with one score in the victory.

OUR PICK: Mike Mularkey has a lot to prove heading into the season, as a lot of observers that he was a questionable hire as the full-time coach in Tennessee. He wants to run an “exotic smashmouth” offense with Mariota, Murray and Henry being the focal point of his system. He’s also stressed throughout training camp that the Titans will be a focused, tough, physical team and thus, he’s going to put more onus on winning a preseason game than Ron Rivera and the Panthers. The Titans are a good bet tonight to win outright.
