Chiefs vs. Giants Prediction
Is there any chance that the New York Giants will cover as a double-digit home underdog today when they host the Kansas City Chiefs at 1:00 p.m. ET?
Who Oddsmakers Like: New York. According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Giants are 10.5-point home underdogs versus the Chiefs, who opened as 13-point road favorites. The total, meanwhile, hit the board at 44 but has jumped to 46 at the majority of online sports books.
Who the Public Likes: Kansas City. As of Sunday morning, 67% of tickets are on the Chiefs to cover the double-digit spread.
Who the Trends Like: The favorite is 5-0 against the spread in the last five meetings between these two teams but the Chiefs are just 1-5 against the number in their last six games versus the Giants overall. The under, meanwhile, is 5-01 in the last six meetings between these two teams.
Who We Like: New York. This is one of those hold-onto-your-nuts plays. The Giants seemingly gave up on their season and head coach weeks ago but there’s so much value in the double-digit home underdog. Case in point, last week the Colts were a double-digit home dog against the Steelers and nearly won outright. So bettors have a built in advantage at kickoff by taking the Giants.
Also, while I realize it’s a dumb move to bet against Andy Reid’s teams coming off a bye, the Chiefs have been out-gained in their last four games. Their offense hasn’t been as dynamic as it was at the start of the year and their defense continues to be a problem as well.
If the Giants merely show up and give a decent effort defensively, Eli Manning and this offense should drum up enough offense to cover the double-digit spread.
