Eagles vs. Cowboys Prediction
Will the banged-up Dallas Cowboys find a way to cover the spread tonight when they host their NFC East rivals the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday Night Football?
Who Oddsmakers Like: Philadelphia. According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Eagles are 6-point road favorites versus the Cowboys, who opened as 3-point home underdogs. As for the total, the number currently sits at 48 points after hitting the board at 47.
Who the Public Likes: Philadelphia. As of Sunday morning, nearly 75% of tickets were on the Eagles to cover the spread.
Who the Trends Like: The road team has covered the spread in eight of the last 11 meetings between these two teams. The Eagles are also 6-0 against the spread in their last six games overall, are 4-0 against the spread in their last four conference games, and are 4-1 at the betting window in their last five road games.
On the other side, the Cowboys are just 2-8 against the spread in their last 10 games against an opponent with a winning record and are 9-21-1 against the number in their last 31 games played on fieldturf.
Who We Like: Philadelphia. All of the value has been sucked out of this line and the Eagles are a huge public play but I like them anyway. Sean Lee is out, Tyron Smith is out, and Ezekiel Elliott is suspended. We saw what happened a week ago when that trio missed the Atlanta game. Dak Prescott was sacked eight times and the Cowboys fell 27-7 after they were shut out in the second half.
The Eagles are better than the Falcons on both sides of the ball. They have a better running game, a more ferocious and consistent pass rush, and they have a quarterback playing at a MVP level right now. A week ago I recommended taking the home underdog Broncos because I saw “value” in Denver. I won’t make that same mistake again. I’m taking the better team.
