Cousins-to-49ers rumors heating up
Are the 49ers the only team that quarterback Kirk Cousins is willing to sign a long-term deal with this offseason?
That’s what ESPN.com’s John Keim is reporting on Tuesday. Keim adds that the Redskins will likely try to trade Cousins with it being a slim chance that the two sides will workout a long-term deal. Washington might not have an opportunity, however, to get much in return for Cousins with this report dragging down the quarterback’s trade value.

Cousins have been linked to the Redskins for the past month or so after it was reported that San Francisco was going to hire Kyle Shanahan as the team’s next head coach. Shanahan and Cousins have a connection from their days spent together in Washington, so it’s easy to connect the dots.

According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the 49ers are 300/1 to win the Super Bowl next season, which are the longest odds of any team to win in the NFL. The Browns are also 300/1, but the teams with the next-closets odds are the Rams and Jets, who are both 150/1, respectively, to win the Super Bowl in 2018.
In related news, NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah “would not be shocked at all” if the Redskins and 49ers agree to a trade involving Cousins at the Combine. He believes there’s a “better than 50 percent” chance that Cousins isn’t a 2017 Redskins, who Jeremiah reports still aren’t sold on Cousins as a long-term option at quarterback.
