NFL Picks: Will Eagles & Giants continue to sputter offensively in Week 9?

Eagles vs. Giants Pick

The Giants host the Eagles on Sunday at 1:00PM ET in what could be a relatively low-scoring game due to a couple of sputtering offenses.

According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Giants are now 2.5-point home favorites versus the Eagles after opening as 3-point favorites earlier in the week. As for the total, the number hit the board at 44 but has been bet down to 43 and could continue to drop the closer we get to kickoff on Sunday.

EAGLES KEY TRENDS: The Eagles are just 3-7 against the spread in their last 10 games versus NFC opponents and are 6-19-1 at the betting window in their last 26 games after allowing more than 350 total yards in their previous game. That said, they have covered the spread in five of their last seven games after allowing more than 250 yards passing in their previous game. So there’s that.

GIANTS KEY TRENDS: The Giants are a perfect 4-0 against the spread in their last four home games versus a team that owns a winning road record coming in, but they have not been a good play off the bye. Eli Manning and Co. are just 1-4 against the spread in their last five games coming off the bye and are just 1-3-1 against the number in their last five games versus NFC opponents.

OUR PREDICTION: Even though they’re coming off a solid performance last week, the Eagles are having issues offensively. They dropped four passes last Sunday night in Dallas and have dropped 6.1% of their passes according to ESPN.com, which is the third-highest rate in the NFL. The Giants, meanwhile, are the only team to be below 500 in rushing yards for the season (492). Both offenses are struggling, but both defenses continue to play well. Philadelphia is allowing just 16.7 points per game, which ranks fourth in the NFL, while New York is surrendering just 20.1 PPG, which is 10th. The under is 5-2 in the Giants’ last seven games overall.
