49ers vs. Falcons Pick

Will Matt Ryan and the Falcons’ offense stay hot when they host the 49ers this Sunday at 4:05PM ET?

According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Falcons are 14-point home favorites versus the 49ers after opening as an 11-point favorite earlier this week. As for the total, the number hit the board at 51.5 and that’s where it currently sits at the majority of online and Vegas sports books.

The Niners blew a double-digit lead against the Jets last Sunday while falling 23-17 in overtime. The loss was San Francisco’s 12th straight this season and the team hasn’t won since shutting out the Rams in Week 1. They’re now 1-12 on the year and after failing to cover the spread as a 3-point home favorite last week, they’re now 3-10 at the betting window in 2016.

The Falcons overcome injuries to Julio Jones (toe), Mohamed Sanu (groin), Desmond Trufant (chest/IR) and Adrian Clayborn (knee) to slaughter the Rams 42-14 last Sunday in Los Angeles. The win was Atlanta’s eighth of the season and the Falcons were able to stay ahead of the Bucs in the NFC South. Both teams are tied atop the division but Atlanta holds the tiebreaker right now due to a better record against common opponents. The Falcons host the 49ers, are at the Panthers and host the Saints to round out their season. They currently control their own playoff destiny.

OUR PREDICTION: Given how hot Atlanta’s offense is and how feeble San Francisco’s defense has become, there’s no reason to bet the under on Sunday. The over is a perfect 6-0 in the Falcons’ last six home games, is 6-0 in their last six games versus a team with a losing record and is 7-1 in their lat eight games overall. The over is also 7-1 in the Niners’ last eight games after allowing more than 350 total yards in their previous game and those 350 total yards came against Bryce Petty and the Jets…on their home field. Imagine the yardage and points they’ll surrender to Ryan and the Falcons in the Georgia Dome on Sunday.
