NFL Playoffs: Spread Drops Off Key Number in Falcons vs. Eagles Game 1/13/18

ATL-PHI Line Drops Off Key Number

The point spread in today’s NFL Divisional Round matchup between the Atlanta Falcons and Philadelphia Eagles has moved off a key number.

According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Eagles are now 2.5-point home underdogs to beat the Falcons when the two teams meet at 4:35 p.m. ET. Philadelphia opened as a 3-point underdog and that’s where the line was all week. That said, it moved off a field goal a few hours before kickoff as sharps hit the home dog at the betting window.

We know that sharp money likely forced oddsmakers to adjust the line because public money remains on Atlanta. As of Saturday afternoon, 59% of betting tickets are on the Falcons minus the points. While 69% of the money is also on Atlanta, oddsmakers wouldn’t have moved off the key number of 3 for this game if they weren’t taking action on Philadelphia.

Oddsmakers must be under siege with key money on the under, too. The total opened at 44.5 but has been bet all the way down to 40 at most sports books. In fact, the total has moved all week, slowly dropping during the weekday before reaching 40 with a few hours before kickoff.

The home team is 4-1 against the spread in the last five meetings between these two teams while the Falcons are just 2-6 against the number in their last eight games in Philadelphia. The under, meanwhile, is 8-3-1 in the last 12 meetings between these two teams overall.
