OUR PREDICTION: The Chiefs have not fared well against the Patriots in previous meetings between these two teams. Kansas City is just 3-7 agains thte spread in its last 10 games versus New England and just 1-4 against the number in its last five trips to Foxborough. I’m not buying the pre-season narrative that Alex Smith is throwing the ball downfield more in Andy Reid’s offense. He is who he is: A risk-adverse, conservative game manager that wins by not turning the ball over. Given how they reshuffled the running back corps, plus the loss of Julian Edelman, the Pats might not come out firing on all cylinders right away. But I do like them to pull away eventually.

NFL WEEK 1 PREDICTION: NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS -8
