Giants vs. Raiders Prediction

The New York Giants have benched Eli Manning for Geno Smith. Will Smith help keep the Giants in the game when they visit the Oakland Raiders at 4:25 p.m. ET?

Who Oddsmakers Like: Oakland. According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Raiders are 9-point home favorites to beat the Giants, who opened as 7.5-point underdogs when the line was first released earlier this week. As for the total, the number hit the board at 41 but has been bet up to 41.5.

Who the Public Likes: Oakland. As of Sunday morning, the Raiders were receiving 64% of the betting tickets to cover the large spread.

Who the Trends Like: Oakland. In the last five meetings between these two teams, the favorite has covered four times.

Who We Like: New York. The Raiders have had difficulty all season stringing wins together. They should pick up their second victory in as many weeks today but will they cover? It could be challenging, especially without Amari Cooper (concussion) and Michael Crabtree (suspension).

The Raiders are also coming off a 21-14 win in which they had to exhaust themselves against a Denver team that played Paxton Lynch and Trevor Siemian at quarterback. I don’t care if it is the Giants, it seems a tad ridiculous to lay nearly double-digits on an Oakland team that doesn’t play defense and will be without its two top weapons in the passing game.

The Raiders are just 2-6-1 against the spread in their last nine games overall and are 2-5-1 against the number in their last eight games played on grass. In their last five games coming off a win, Oakland is just 1-4 at the betting window.
