Dolphins vs. Jets Prediction
Will the Miami Dolphins manage to win without their starting QB when they take on the New York Jets tonight at 8:25PM ET?
According to the oddsmakers at BetDSI, the Dolphins are favored on the road, as they are getting odds of -2.5 points against the Jets. The over/under total for the contest is listed at 37.5 points. The Jets have won three of the last four in this series, and they are 5-1 against the spread in the last six meetings. The Dolphins did pick up a 27-23 win over New York in Miami on Nov. 6.
Miami is coming off a 26-23 win last weekend to stay in the playoff picture at 8-5 in the season. The Dolphins are also 7-6 against the spread, but have failed to cover in two of their last three. Despite the win last week, Miami suffered a massive injury as Ryan Tannehill suffered ACL and MCL sprains in his left knee and will be out indefinitely. He threw for 2,995 yards and 19 touchdowns this season. Matt Moore takes over as starter. He has thrown just 5 passes this season. TJ Yates will serve as his backup. The Miami offense has struggled somewhat as is, averaging just 21.6 points and 343.3 yards per game this season. Jay Ajayi has rushed for 956 yards and seven touchdowns to lead the offense. Jarvis Landry is still a threat at receiver, as he has caught 79 passes for 923 yards and two scores. Defensively, Miami is giving up 23.2 points and 382.2 yards per game. They have struggled to stop the run, allowing 133.8 yards per game on the ground. The unit has forced 21 turnovers this year and has 28 sacks.
The Jets ended a four-game losing streak last week with a 23-17 OT win at San Francisco. New York is just 4-9 on the year now and 5-8 against the spread, though they have covered in two of their last three. The Jets have an offense that is averaging just 17.6 points and 344.7 yards per game on the season. New York has handed the reigns over to Bryce Petty. He has thrown for 574 yards with two touchdowns and four interceptions. He had 257 yards with one interception in last week’s win. Matt Forte is listed as questionable for this game because of a knee injury. If he is unable to go, Bilal Powell will handle duties in the backfield. Powell has run for 456 yards and three scores this year. Defensively, the Jets are giving up 24.9 points 367 yards per game. Leonard Williams is leading the defense with 53 tackles and seven sacks.

This game will be tough to call, as the Dolphins are a bit of an unknown with Tannehill out. However, Miami should still be able to step up on defense against Petty and a struggling Jets’ offense. That will be the story of this game, as I see Miami creating turnovers and a short field for Moore, who will manage to put up some points on the Jets.
