NFL Week 15 Predictions: Saints laying too many points vs. Jets? 12/17/17

Jets vs. Saints Prediction

Are the New Orleans Saints laying too many points to the New York Jets on Sunday afternoon or will they cover the big number at 1:00 p.m. ET?

Who Oddsmakers Like: New Orleans. According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Saints are a 16-point home favorite to beat the Jets, who opened as 15-point underdogs before the line climbed higher. The total, meanwhile, sits at 47.5 points after hitting the board at 47.

Who the Public Likes: As of Sunday morning, 58% of betting tickets are on the Saints to cover the spread while 51% of the money is also on New Orleans.

Bet NFL Week 15 Games

Who the Trends Like: The Jets are 7-3-1 against the spread in their last 11 games overall but they’re just 1-5-1 at the betting window in their last seven road games. On the other side, the Saints have covered the number in eight of their last 11 games and are 4-1 against the spread in their last five home games.

Who We Like: New Orleans. I hate laying this many points but the Saints are guaranteed to be focused and pissed off after losing last Thursday night in Atlanta. They’re well rested and should be well-prepared after receiving three extra days off. Oh, and the Jets are starting Bryce Petty at quarterback. There’s always a chance that the unknown will surprise, but we have to go with what we know right now. Petty was just two-of-nine for 14 yards last week in relief of Josh McCown and he’s had multiple opportunities to seize the starting job since coming into the league. Instead, journeyman quarterbacks have out-performed him in practice and preseason play and Petty has been relegated to backup duties.

The other problem is that the Jets stink on the road. They’re -132 in yards per game away from their home field and are coming off a game in which they totaled 100 yards of total offense. I just can’t back a team that is unlikely to score. With Alvin Kamara back for the Saints, this should be a blowout.
