NFL Week 16 Predictions: Miami Dolphins vs. Buffalo Bills 12/24/16

Dolphins vs. Bills Prediction

Can the Buffalo Bills take advantage of a banged-up Miami Dolphins team when the two meet up today at 1PM ET?

According to the oddsmakers at BetDSI, the Bills are favored at home in this game, as Buffalo is getting odds of -4.5 points against Miami. The over/under total for the contest has been set at 42 points. These two met back on Oct. 23, with Miami getting a 28-25 win at Buffalo. The Bills have covered in five of the last seven meetings, though Miami covered as a 2.5-point underdog in the lone meeting this year.

Miami is coming off a 34-13 win at the Jets last Saturday to stay in the playoff mix at 9-5 on the season. The Dolphins have won two straight coming into today and covered in their last two to move to 8-6 against the spread as well. Ryan Tannehill is on the sideline with an injury right now, but Matt Moore look impressive in last week’s win to keep the Dolphins hoping for a playoff appearance. Moore threw for 236 yards and four touchdowns to lead Miami. The Dolphins now average 22.5 points and 340.4 yards per game on offense while giving up 22.4 points and 382.2 yards per game on defense. Jay Ajayi has run for 1,007 yards and seven touchdowns to be a steady presence in the backfield. Defensively, Cameron Wake has 10.5 sacks.

Bet on Dolphins vs. Bills

Buffalo snapped a two-game losing streak last week with a 33-13 win over Cleveland to move to 7-7 on the season. The Bills are just 1-3 against the spread in their last four games and are now 6-8 against the spread for the year. Buffalo is averaging 25.6 points and 359.2 yards per game on offense this year. LeSean McCoy has been one of the top backs in the NFL this year, as he has run for 1,129 yards and 12 touchdowns to lead the offense. Tyrod Taylor has added 520 rushing yards and six scores while throwing for 2,694 yards and 14 touchdowns. Defensively, Buffalo is giving up 22.4 points and 366.7 yards per game in 2016. Lorenzo Alexander has 67 tackles with 11.5 sacks to lead the unit.

Was Moore’s showing last week a fluke, or is it what we can expect going forward? Moore had the luxury of facing a poor Jets team last weekend and now will face a Buffalo defense that can apply a little more pressure and possibly force some mistakes. Rex Ryan will have his team playing for pride at home, so I think they will find a way to cover against this Miami team.
