NFL Week 2 Predictions: Cleveland Browns vs. Baltimore Ravens 9/17/17

Browns vs. Ravens Pick

Will the Cleveland Browns be able to put up a fight when it goes on the road to face the Baltimore Ravens this afternoon at 1PM ET?

According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Baltimore is favored at home, as the Ravens are getting odds of -7.5 points against the Browns. The over/under total for the contest is listed at 39 points. Baltimore has won and covered the spread in three straight in this series. Today’s game will be played from M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore, Maryland and will air live on CBS.

Cleveland started the year with a 21-18 loss at home to the Steelers, but the Browns easily covered the 10p-point spread. The Browns held Pittsburgh to just 290 yards in the loss, but Cleveland only produced 237 total yards of its own. The Cleveland defense continues to be without No. 1 pick Myles Garrett, who is recovering from an ankle injury, but that didn’t stop it from playing Pittsburgh tough. DeShone Kizer had a respectable rookie debut at quarterback, throwing for 222 yards with one touchdown and one interceptions on 20-of-30 passing. He also rushed for a touchdown. The run game was a letdown, as the Browns had just 57 yards on 25 carries.

The Ravens opened the season with an impressive 20-0 win over the Bengals in Cincinnati last week. They came into the game as a 2.5-point underdog. Baltimore held the Bengals to just 221 total yards and 77 rushing yards. They also forced five turnovers and had five sacks in the process. On offense, Joe Flacco was 9-of-17 passing with 121 yards and a touchdown. The team ran for 157 yards, but on 42 carries. Danny Woodhead suffered a hamstring injury in the loss and will be out indefinitely. Terrance West and Javorius Allen combined for 151 of the rushing yards on 40 carries. Those two will be looked at as the co-backs, especially with Kenneth Dixon dealing with an injury and suspension.

Bet on Browns vs. Ravens

The Ravens defense is likely to be the story on this game, but that doesn’t mean the Browns can’t cover. Cleveland looked pretty good on defense last week itself and faces a much lesser offense this week in the Ravens. I don’t know that either team is going to find itself in a real offensive flow. History also likes Cleveland, as the Browns are 5-2 against the spread in their last 7 trips to Baltimore. Including the preseason, the Browns are 6-0-1 against the spread in their last seven. Ride the wave.
