Anthony Davis has been ruled out for today due to a concussion, although Joe Staley and Trent Brown remain the team’s starting offensive tackles. Outside of Davis, the Niners will enter today’s matchup with the Panthers relatively healthy.

Latest on the Panthers…

The biggest news in Carolina is the health status of Jonathan Stewart, who was limited at practice on Wednesday, practiced on Thursday and has been listed as questionable for today’s game. Stewart is currently dealing with an ankle injury but should be healthy enough to play today and receive another 20-plus carries. Also, after taking a huge hit in last Thursday night’s loss to the Broncos, Cam Newton was not in the league’s concussion protocol. Newton passed all four of his concussion tests and will start today.

OUR PREDICTION: The Rams made the 49ers look like the ’85 Bears on Monday night but that shouldn’t take away from the fact that San Francisco is improved defensively. First-round picks Arik Armstead and DeForest Buckner played well in the 49ers’ opener and NaVorro Bowman continues to play at an elite level. The under is 4-1 in the 49ers’ last five games overall, is 7-2 in their last nine games coming off a win, and 20-8 in their last 28 games versus NFC opponents. The Panthers should keep Chip Kelly’s offense in check as well.

NFL WEEK 2 PREDICTION: 49ERS/PANTHERS UNDER 45.5
